Hockey is Heating Up Summer Days at Oakland University
Try out camps started on Saturday for the 2007-2008 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies Hockey Team. Players were placed on four squads and played four scrimmage games
throughout the day. The Blue team squared off against the Red team to start off the morning. Led by two veterans Steve Piccolli and John Parrish the Red Team was able to
escape the first game with a win. Hopeful forward Frank Matyok put up a strong bid to make the team as he chipped in with four points and goaltender Andrew Stewart had a solid
game, but his day was just beginning.
Game two featured the Black team taking on the White team. Featured on the White team was the duo of brothers. Superstar Will McMahon played on the same line as
younger brother Kyle McMahon. Will put on a show, but the White team came up short as the black team pulled out the win. Game began after a lunch break. The Black team took
on the Blue team to start off the afternoon. Whatever the Blue ate for lunch it worked.
It was a totally different team as the Blue team easily went on to win the game. The last game of the day was easily the best game of the day. It featured the Red Versus the White
team.
The two teams went back and forth with the game finishing in a six to six tie. Brothers Will and Kyle McMahon put on a show to keep there team in it. Goaltender for the Red
team Andrew Stewart played the whole game to show the coaches he was a serious threat to make the team.
